GUEST BLOG POST: The big news!
Greetings to the NetChick Nation! I have good news and bad news. Bad news first – the NetChick you know and love will soon be gone forever. By this time next year, Tanya Davis will cease to exist. The good news is that she’s simply going to be changing her name from Tanya Davis to Tanya Desrosiers! Yep, that’s right, she has agreed to be my wife!
Yaaaaaaaaaaay!
Sorry, but when I think about it I feel like a kid again, and I tend to act very high school, even though that part of my life is more than 2 decades behind me. Oh, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Barry Desrosiers, and I’m pleased to meet you all. I can’t tell you how happy and proud I am to be a part of this amazing woman’s life. Although it’s only really been a few months since we met (at the Disney World Marathon – thanks Buzz), the intensity of our emotions simply takes my breath away. As I’m sure you’re all aware, she is absolutely incredible. Smart, funny, successful, savvy, gorgeous and TOTALLY SEXY! I’ve been around the block a few times, but NEVER have I felt more connected to another human being. Sometimes I wonder whether such a perfect companion wasn’t created in a lab somewhere, built with the sole purpose of making me happy. In her presence, I become a pile of romantic goo, using pet names at will, smiling like an idiot when she looks at me, showering her with gifts, flowers, cookies and affection. I’m telling ya, we’ve been making people gag with the sappiness of our love affair. And I don’t care, because this woman makes me feel like Superman – only stronger, faster and smarter. Tights and cape optional. What happens in the bedroom STAYS in the bedroom, after all.
A couple facts about me: I am an Alberta boy, born and raised. However, I am NOT a cowboy. No boots, no hat, no truck, no rodeos and no “Git Er Done!” bumper sticker. I am a financial advisor, I’m 39 years old, I ride motorcycles, I love the symphony, public speaking, making people laugh and worshiping the ground Tanya walks on. Made ya throw up in your mouth? Sorry about that. I’m excited to be moving to Vancouver in the coming months to continue my career as a financial advisor, enjoy the amazing Vancouver lifestyle and dabble in the world of comedy and voice acting. I plan to give this marriage 50 years, then evaluate things and see if it’s working.
I love Tanya Davis. I love everything about her. And I can’t wait to be her husband.
We’ll return to “As The Stomach Turns” after these commercial messages…

I’m beyond thrilled for you both – and can’t stop smiling after reading your inspiring entry.
The spirit of reverence with which you write about Tanya reminds me so much of how I’ve always looked up to my wife. We just celebrated our 17th anniversary, and I thank my lucky stars every morning I wake up with her next to me.
Life’s wonderful when you find The One who fate has decided you should be with. I’m so happy that you both found each other.
Thanks everyone — I really appreciate all the kind words.
In the words of several very happy couples who married within a year of meeting (which is not what we’ve planned, by the way), when you know, you know.
We’re so extremely happy, too!
So, this is what true love feels like?
