Hi, hi… Yes I’m still here.

Hello from deep, dark South Calgary, where we’ve been dealing with floods, exams, the work hunt, and other such fun things.

I’ve got three other posts I’d like to get to very soon — first and foremost, one about meeting some of my extended birth family a couple of weekends ago. I’d hoped to get to writing it last week, and then life (and flooding basements) got in the way.

Anyhow, look forward to two blog posts coming up in the next day or so.

In the meantime, I need to get back to calling the city, the builder (BayWest homes), and some contractors to get an estimate on the fairly serious water incursion problem we’ve been suffering with. We don’t want another flood as soon as a heavy rainstorm comes our way.

Plus, I’ve got a few more resumes to get out today. And, studying tonight. Oh, and for those of you that missed it on Facebook, I got 75% on the first exam last Tuesday night. I should have seen a better result, but I was thrown off my game arguing with the exam proctor for 10 minutes during the exam. Whatever. One down, one to go.

YOUR TURN: What’s been keeping you busy this summer?

  • My summer…

has been full of kids and traveling and friends and nowhere near enough hiking!

I have to kick my own arse into gear on my own course as well! lol

I haven’t been writing enough either. So, I challenged myself to join 750words.com. I won’t be doing the once-a-day challenge until September, because August is still pretty busy.

Not everything I write on 750 will be transferable to my blog because some of it will be pretty bitchy, pretty personal and pretty insulting to some people I know.

But that’s the great thing. I can pour it all out on ‘paper,’ have my catharsis and it never sees the light of day.

  • @BEG – Sounds like you’ve had a busy summer… your trip sounded like so much fun! I need to get out and hike more, too.

@Angela – Ahh, yes. I actually do have an alternate blog (anonymous, that no one can find… But still public) that allows me to write everything that I can’t say here, for obvious reasons. Sadly, these days, I’ve been so busy acclimating to my new life here in Calgary, that I haven’t had time to write in either forum. I’m hoping that’ll change soon. I miss my readers, and their commentary!

Ah yes, exams are nerve-wracking. Thankfully grad students only have projects (and no exams) to do.

  • Hello Tanya!!! It’s nice to see you back! My summer was pretty hectic as well, juggling between my book writing and starting up my own design firm since it was hard finding a job and I decide I don’t like working under a boss or something like that anyway.

Good to see you back ‘online’. You’ve certainly been having a hectic summer. The earlier pix of the Stampede remind me of my time in Calgary a couple of years ago, when I managed to catch the last day of the stampede (as well as getting lost on the transit system).

The High on Life book tour has been keeping me busy this summer! We’re coming to Calgary on Monday and would love your support! I sent you more information to your e-mail address. Thanks!! =)

  • Hey, congrats on the exam — nobody at all will care between 75% – 90% IRL, so ssly, hat tip for the 75%. Sorry to hear about water intrusion issue. Your place is too lovely to endure that!
Looking forward to your posts about your extended family.
And what’s been keeping me busy? I’m working with Jennifer Priest identifying priorities and my evenings are pretty full of exercise, re-entering the blogosphere, and trying to include regular times of meditation. All good!
