What do you do when you are really angry?

Me? I pick at the cuticles around my thumbs until they bleed.

Today, I needed bandages. I’m pretty damn angry.

I wish I could talk about why I’m so upset, but alas, I can’t. All I can say is, I learned a valuable lesson today about getting things in writing, and making sure the details are very specific. I’m attempting to get the issue fixed, but, if that doesn’t happen… Well, I won’t say more right now.

YOUR TURN: How do you deal with anger?

I practice breathing techniques to help release the stress/anger. Going for a walk usually helps as well. I learned the hard way about getting things in writing back in 2003. I started a job with no signed contract, just a verbal agreement that medical benefits would be paid after the 90 day probation was up. When I asked for my benefits I was told they could not afford to pay them as they were a small employer. I ended up staying at that job for almost 6 years and became very good at negotiating and grinding for every extra salary increase, benefit and more paid vacation and even a free trip for my husband every year. Why did I stay that long? I loved what the company did. It taught me a very valuable lesson though and I always asked for more then what I was prepared to settle for as my employer was never going to give me exactly what I asked for.
