My brain hurts.

WME 1 Practice Exam

Good grief… I cannot WAIT to finish these two industry tests!!!!! I’m writing the first WME (Wealth Management Essentials) exam on Monday (I’m still not feeling particularly ready, mind you!) And, second exam (all case studies) is next Monday. Thank goodness for SeeWhy Learning – I LOVE those people! I use their exam preps for all my courses. They are awesome!

So, I’m studying until 2pm today, and then more tonight. And, more tomorrow, oh, and more after work on Monday. I should be able to pass, but, as usual I believe that obtaining simply “passing grades” is really just ridiculous when I’m tasked with helping people achieve financial goals. Who on earth wants to work with someone who knows only 60% of their industry? I’m holding myself to a higher standard.

The worst part about this whole thing? I don’t even need this course anymore for my career… I won’t be working in a brokerage firm under IIROC licensing. But, it’s been paid for, so I might as well finish it, and learn in the process. Knowledge is good. And, who knows, maybe one day I’ll be working as a planner somewhere that requires this competency.

After I’ve completed these two exams (and hopefully done well), it’s 3 weeks break for me, and then back at it for my PFP certification, which I hope to finish by December. Simultaneously, I’ll also be preparing for my CFP, which I hope to complete by November of 2013 – although, I still won’t have enough on-the-job experience to use those all-important letters after my name until March 2014.

Good times!

I have other news, about today, but I don’t want to jinx it… so, I may do another post tomorrow if everything works out.

YOUR TURN! What are you up to, this fine weekend?

…back to studying for me…

  • Well, that exam kicked my ass… HARD. Holy crap – I was averaging 90% on practice exams with similar weighting, but there was a whole lot of garbage Quebec stuff that I didn’t put a lot of time into fully learning. I really hope that doesn’t come back to bite me later. There is so much minutia in the WME course, that I had to focus on the material I thought I would need in my job… Sigh.

  • Oh… And, the other news I alluded to in my post? No news yet. I’ll come back and update when I have something to share!
